T-Lymphocytes origin..?!?
Permalink Closed

That day i was attending my final histology oral exam. The doctor asked me what the origin of "T-lymphocytes" were. I said at once that they originate from the active red bone marrow as t-lymphocyte mother cell (precursor), where then they travel through blood until they reach the Thymus where they mature and are ready to be released upon infection.

To my surprise, the doctor said with a sudden surprised look on his face that i'm totally wrong and that T-lymphocytes originate from only the Thymus.

I was really puzzled and i'm still so.
Any opinions about this?

Thanks
